As firefighters, we are often exposed to individuals and families who need immediate assistance. Whether it be due to the loss of a family member, or a loss of their home due to a fire.
We are also in contact with non-profit organizations that work to make the world a better place by helping those in need or working to cure and treat diseases.
In order to better support these individuals, families, and organizations, the firefighters of Woodinville Fire and Rescue established the Woodinville Firefighters Benevolent Fund in 2007. It is a federally recognized 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization and licensed with Washington State.
In 2012, the Woodinville Firefighters Benevolent Fund partnered with the firefighters from Bothell Fire & EMS to form the Bothell Firefighters Benevolent Fund.
Two groups of firefighters serving and donating to one great cause: helping those in their communities in need.
Over the years we have supported our communities in several ways, such as:
- provided preschool tuition for a child who lost his father in an untimely death
- replaced water heaters for two financially challenged families living in mobile homes
- helped pay for funeral expenses for several firefighters
- assisted several people with medical expenses
- purchased coats for financially challenged elementary school students.
By pooling our resources, chaplains, firefighters and police officers have been able to provide financial assistance to the homeless or people in need, directly in the field, where the need is most dire.
As you can see, the Funds affect many people, in many ways. For details about the good that we do, please visit this link.
But what if more could be done to keep families and friends safe, before a potentially dangerous situation requires a 911 response?
And what if, by helping people be safe, we could also empower them to help others in need, especially those in their local communities, across the nation?
With the help of our friends, we are excited to broaden our scope through this website, Firefighters For Good.
The goal is prevention through education, in all aspects life.
